Julien Klopfenstein is a French choreographer and performance artist based in Budapest, working across contemporary dance, performance, and moving image.

Trained at the National Conservatoire of Music and Dance of Lyon, he continued his artistic development at the Nederlands Dans Theater SI (2018). 

As a performer, he has worked with Budapest Dance Theatre and as a freelance artist with a range of choreographers and companies, appearing on stages across Europe, including the 60th Venice Biennale.

His choreographic work is rooted in interdisciplinary collaboration with visual artists, musicians, and designers. Through site-responsive and immersive works, he explores the relationships between movement, space, and sound.
